Testimonial: Couples

Beverley – Lancashire

We had sought help from two separate couples counsellors prior to finding Vicky, and neither experience had been very reassuring or beneficial.

Vicky immediately created and held the space for us to communicate in a way that allowed us to stay present for each other and really hear each other. This was a turning point for me, as so often attempting to talk about difficult subjects had been met with defensiveness and distress. We had been caught in the same loops and patterns for years.

Gently, but firmly, and with great warmth, compassion and wisdom, Vicky helped us to begin to acknowledge our unhelpful behaviours and to hear how they impacted on each other, and on our relationship. With this understanding we could at last start to change how we related to each other and move forward.

Having struggled with our previous couples counselling sessions where there was no real structure, I really appreciated the organised element of Imago and the sense of safety and support it brought to us, both in our sessions with Vicky and as we continued to dialogue at home. Imago Therapy acknowledges all our human frailties and flaws. It gives us a means to show our vulnerability in a safe and supported way, and in showing our vulnerability we inevitably connect more deeply with our partner.

I have gained so much from learning about Imago Therapy and how to use it in my relationship, but I know that the magic ingredient was Vicky. She was always compassionate, genuine, professional, honest, encouraging and very, very human.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Vicky to anyone seeking help either as an individual or as a couple.
Thank you so much Vicky, for all of the above. I am so grateful for your commitment to us and your encouragement, and for your heartfelt enthusiasm for Imago Therapy. You’re an inspiration!
Thank you.
